Akshay, Aamir star in a film for Income Tax department

Akshay, Aamir star in a film for Income Tax departmentAjay Devgn grumbled his way through the shoot because he was told to be dressed in white throughout the film

Ajay Devgn turned into the great grumbler throughout the shooting of Ekta Kapoor's Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai because he was forced to wear white clothes.

Trademark feature
It's a known fact that Ajay loves colour and he griped on and on about sticking to one colour. Reveals Ekta, "In a biopic, the central character should have one distinctive trademark feature that stands out so we thought, 'why not let Ajay wear white?'

We had made 40 different sets of clothes for him in various colours but couldn't use them. We had to scrap them all." Also, as reported, his character is inspired by an underworld don of the '70s who only wore white. It is believed that he even lived in an all-white house.

Dressing up
Milan says, "We did research on what people wore at that time and discovered that white was a predominant colour in the '70s while the fabric most sought after, was double ghoda bosky.

In Kachche Dhaage, Ajay wore a white pathani suit at his father's funeral and looked good in it. In Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai, it was his own idea to wear pathani suits."

Luthria adds that Ajay would get bored of wearing white every day and keep cribbing. "He was sick of white at the end of the shoot. He would grumble that there was nothing different and why couldn't he simply wear the same outfit over and over again! He was completely pakaoed with the colour."

Colour schemed!
In OUATIM, AJ plays '70s gangster Sultan. The character is based on a gangster during the '70s who loved the colour white. Sultan hates black as he's worked his way up as a coalie (hauling coals) in the docks. Since he dealt in work that wasn't 'white', he hated anything to do with the colour black.

The colour also expresses the leashed power and aggression in Ajay. Ekta believes that white would have instant recall. People remember and reconnect with Sultan's power when they see him in a single colour throughout. He is calm and organised. He claws his way from the bottom to take over the city.

Ahead of the release of his sci-fi film RA.One, Shah Rukh Khan will launch a line of toys for kids aged 8-15 years. The toys will be based on the likeness of SRK's and Arjun Rampal's characters.

A source reveals that King Khan wants to create a huge franchise around the film after its release. Director Anubhav Sinha and SRK have had meetings with a couple of toy manufacturing brands to take the idea forward.

Kiddie inputs
Since the film caters to kids, the actor has also consulted Aryan and Suhana to give him ideas for the toys. "Aryan is a big superhero fan and he contributed his ideas on the film as well.

Shah Rukh plans to go all out for the marketing of RA.One, making it a brand along the lines of Iron Man. There is also talk of a sequel if the film manages to score at the box-office."

In the past, Rakesh Roshan also brought out toys based on characters from Krrish when the film was a huge hit.

Birthday gift for Maanayata? Dutt's taken care of

Birthday gift for Maanayata? Dutt`s taken care ofSanju ensures Maana has a happy b'day, gets friends to spend time with his wife and even leaves behind a birthday gift

Sanjay Dutt won't be in town today as wife Maanayata (who is expecting twins) turns 32. The doting husband may be in South Africa but left her a surprise gift and also had their family friends spend time with her on her janamdin. Not one to be outdone, Maana is also planning to fly down to Oman to surprise her man on his 51st b'day -- provided her gynaecologist gives her permission to travel.

Says a source close to Dutt and Maanayata, "When Sanju left for South Africa in the first week of July he had given his business manager Dharam Oberoi a beautifully wrapped parcel and told him to give it to Maana on her birthday. It appeared to be a jewellery box and looked like a diamond set (Maana loves diamonds).

Last night, Dharam, his daughter Neha, her friend Mimi, Apoorva Lakhia, Sohail Maklai and Bunty Walia went to the Dutt residence in Bandra and gave Maana a surprise party. They brought a huge chocolate cake along and took her out to dinner. Sanju didn't want Maana to be alone on her birthday."

Dutt is currently doing a recce for his first production Rascals (directed by David Dhawan) in South Africa, Morocco and Oman. "Maana is in her fifth month of pregnancy and South Africa is almost 10 hours away. Maana won't be able to fly down there.

But she's determined that on Sanju's birthday (July 29), she will fly down to celebrate it with him in Oman, which is only two hours away. That, too, if her doctor gives her permission to travel. Sanju and Maana are in touch every day and miss each other terribly."

The buzz is that Dutt might just drop in for a surprise visit today. "When Sanju was canvassing for the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh, he flew in for a night by jet and sang Khuda Jaane (the Bachna Ae Haseeno track) to Maana as he was missing her a lot. Last year, he gifted her a limited edition Corum watch on her birthday."

Khans keeping up with the Kumars

Khans keeping up with the KumarsBitchy actress called to talk about the oft-occurring coincidences in the lives of the Khans and the Kumars.

A month after Twinkle Khanna appeared in an ad, there's now news about Gauri doing an ad for a product SRK endorses.

Also, after news reports of Akshay Kumar cycling around in London, we hear that King Khan is doing the same.

Isn't this sweet? The actors were making digs at each other until last year. And now have so much in common. They don't follow each other on Twitter but they don't seem to have a problem doing that in everyday life.

Now let's see if the happy foursome will appear together on a magazine cover."

Why Shah Rukh will and won't host the Bigg Boss 3

Why Shah Rukh will and won`t host the Bigg Boss 3There are equally strong rumours from both sides saying Shah Rukh Khan will and won't host the latest season of Bigg Boss. We give you both sides of the story

Will he, won't he? The speculation continues whether Shah Rukh Khan will host the next season of Bigg Boss. While sources in the channel insist that they are still in talks with King Khan, sources close to the actor insist that he has already turned down the show. Here's presenting the buzz from both the two sides.

He will and here's why
Amitabh Bachchan, the original host of Kaun Banega Crorepati, returns to the show after ten years, replacing SRK.

So it's natural for the channel to want Shah Rukh to "replace" AB as Bigg Boss host, now that it is clear that Big B isn't doing it anymore. It is a "swapping" that is bound to hit the headlines and create buzz for both shows. While KBC will be air on Sony, Bigg Boss will be shown on Colors.

Says a TV producer, "It will be interesting to see the Big B and Shah Rukh clashing over TRPs as hosts of two different reality TV shows. A channel source adds, "Currently negotiations are on with SRK and Colors. Of late, SRK has become good friends with Colors' Head of Programming, Ashvini Yardi, so he might just do it.

Khan is being wooed with mega bucks to host the reality show. And he can really push Don 2 for a few months, if he wants. In any case, if he doesn't want to push back the film, he can travel from wherever he is, to shoot it.

Here's why he won't
Insiders in the Khan camp swear the actor is just too busy to accept a tv show, "Shah Rukh is currently busy with his home production RA.One, after which he begins filming for the Don sequel so he won't be able to do it do."

Also, though it helps the show, he doesn't want to become a part of the SRK vs Big B clash. A source from Cineyug (who manage Shah Rukh's shows and events) says, "Shah Rukh is not doing Bigg Boss as his dates are not available."

Sonam Kapoor offered a Hollywood film with Ben Stiller

Sonam Kapoor offered a Hollywood film with Ben StillerThe gauche, overweight youngster who started her Bollywood career as director Sanjay Leela Bhansali's assistant is the graceful star well on her way to success. Only three films old, Sonam Kapoor is already itching to get back to direction.

"My first love is acting and I will be acting till the day I die. I love my job. But, yes, the field of direction is always open for me. I think I shall direct in a couple of years. I am literally itching to direct, " Sonam told.

"I need a little more time to figure out what I want to direct and take care of the script and such logistics. But, honestly, I would like to give myself at least 10 years before I go behind the camera once again, " said the actress over the phone from Scotland, where she is currently shooting for "Mausam".

It was Bhansali who thought of casting Sonam as the female lead in "Saawariya" while she was working with him as assistant director for "Black".

The actress has been trying to do something different in each of her films -- her debut film "Saawariya" was based on Fyodor Dostoevsky's short story "White Nights", "Delhi-6" was about the life in the walled city and her recent release "I Hate Luv Storys" is a modern day love story. She is now waiting for the release of her home production "Aisha" next month.

She is having a rollicking time in Scotland, with the cast and crew of "Mausam", and is looking forward to coming back to India to promote "Aisha".

"I am experiencing four seasons in a day here in Edinburgh...the 'mausam' (weather) is so unpredictable here...but I am loving it. I am coming back home on 27th of July to promote 'Aisha'. It's going to be fun, " she said.

Sonam plays the principal character in "Aisha" - a young, free-spirited, stylish and spoilt high society girl obsessed with match-making. Based on Jane Austen's classic novel "Emma", the film is about Aisha's life and her friends.

What makes the film special for Sonam is that it has been produced by her younger sister Rhea and has the backing of her father.

"Aisha", releasing Aug 6, also features actors like Abhay Deol, Cyrus Sahukar, Arunoday Singh, Ira Dubey and debutante Amrita Puri.

Sonam has been zipping across the world to fulfil her work commitments.

From promoting "I Hate Luv Storys" here and going back to the sets of Anees Bazmee's romantic comedy "Thank You" opposite Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Kapoor's "Mausam", she has been constantly on the move.

But she doesn't find it tiring.

"I don't want a break. Working is a holiday for me. I have a lot of work lined up till December, then maybe I take two weeks off. But I really don't believe in the concept of taking a month off, " said Sonam.

In fact, it is her packed work schedule that is making her indecisive about two international projects that have been offered to her. One is a Ben Stiller movie, while the other is a co-production between her father Anil Kapoor and Italian actress Sophia Loren's son Edoardo Ponti.

"Yes, I have been offered these two films. I have read both the scripts - one is a comedy, the Ben Stiller one. I have liked both of them, but I can't give any of them a thought till I work out my dates. My schedules are jam-packed. I don't know when they want to shoot - so accordingly, if my dates are free, I'm all for them, " said Sonam.

So even if she maybe Hollywood bound, what's the kind of work she is looking forward to in Bollywood?

"I have been quite appreciated for what I have done. I want to do work that makes me happy and I am quite an impulsive decision-maker. I don't mind smaller but offbeat films, and not so much mainstream stuff. By mainstream, I mean ones with big budgets and no story, " she said.

No more drama, Karan Johar to switch to comedy

No more drama, Karan Johar to switch to comedy

No more drama, Karan Johar to switch to comedyOf the younger crop of Bollywood filmmakers, Karan Johar is undoubtedly the most flamboyant. Director, producer, anchor, screenplay writer – he is a man of many talents. He is known for his brand of cinema, replete with family values, culture et al. Barring Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, which was based on adultery.

Yet all his directorial ventures like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and My Name is Khan have been heavy-duty, intense dramas. He is all set to direct a comedy next.

The world has seen his witty, quirky side in his show Koffee with Karan and as an anchor at the Filmfare Awards. He certainly has a wacky sense of humour.

The affable Karan can genially grill celebs and get them to reveal their secrets without crossing the line.

So it will be interesting to see how he directs a comedy. His production house Dharma Productions has produced light-hearted film like Kal Ho Naa Ho, Dostana and Wake Up Sid but Karan has never wielded the baton on a comic caper.

Of course, the film will star his best buddy Shah Rukh Khan. A source told us that Karan reportedly said that he would never make a film without SRK and that he wanted to make a fresh, funny film. Well, it can be safely said that Karan's next will be highly anticipated!

Want to download pirated Housefull? First read this

Want to download pirated Housefull? First read thisThinking of downloading "Housefull" from the internet for a free view? Beware! Director Sajid Khan says he has used an anti-piracy software to make sure there are no illegal downloads of the film.

Sajid said that "Housefull" has used an anti-piracy and corruption software called Republique to avoid illegal downloading on the Internet.

"If anyone tries downloading it, not only will the files get corrupted but their IP address too will pop up and they will be prosecuted with all charges against them as per the anti-piracy law, " he said.

"We even have a call centre in Mumbai with 35 people on board monitoring the illegal downloading of the film. We've tested the process too and it worked wonders in five seconds, " he added.

Sajid Khan also feels he is not a good actor and will never face the camera in his own film unlike Subhash Ghai, Aamir Khan or Anurag Kashyap.

"I don't think I'm a good actor... hats off to people who can write their own film, direct it, act in it and then the film also comes out a hit. When I start working on my film, I get into it, " said Sajid.

"My weight starts increasing, I smoke a lot and I say no to all other projects because I just don't direct a film, I make a film. So, for that matter probably I'll never act in my own film, " added the 38-year-old.

Sajid debuted as a director with a story in Ram Goapl Varma's anthology "Darna Zaroori Hai" (2006) before graduating to his first full-fledged outing "Heyy Babyy" in 2007.

He was here at the DT Cinemas, DLF Promenade Tuesday evening to promote his latest directorial venture "Housefull" - releasing Friday. Also present with him was the star cast of the movie including Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Arjun Rampal, Deepika Padukone and Jiah Khan.

Lara Dutta who also plays a pivotal role in the movie did not make it to the event. The movie has been produced by Sajid Nadiadwala.

I'm waiting for right script to unite SRK, Akshay: Sajid

I`m waiting for right script to unite SRK, Akshay: Sajid Bollywood presenter-turned-director Sajid Khan doesn't deny his dream project is to get Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar together in the lead for a film but only when he has the right script.

"The day I have a script that can carry both Akshay Kumar and Shah Rukh Khan (in the lead), I'll come out with it. Both are superstars and who wouldn't like to work with both of them in their film, " said Sajid.

"I adore Shah Rukh as a fan and Akshay is my brother. But it will take a lot of time as I will write my next script in six months and then approach them... so it's a lengthy process as of now, " he added.

Akshay also said the same.

"These things take time. He will first write the script that will take time and then approach us and then we'll give out the dates. So it's at least more than a year-and-half away even if everything falls in place, " said the actor.

Shah Rukh and Akshay have been seen earlier in "Dil Toh Pagal Hai" and "Heyy Babyy" but never as parallel leads. While the former had Akshay in a cameo, the latter saw Shah Rukh in a special appearance only for a song.

Sajid and Akshay were here at the DT Cinemas, DLF Promenade Tuesday evening to promote "Housefull". Also present with them was the other star cast of the movie including Riteish Deshmukh, Arjun Rampal, Deepika Padukone and Jiah Khan.

Lara Dutta who also plays a pivotal role in the movie did not make it to the event. Releasing Friday, the movie has been produced by Sajid Nadiadwala.

Unhappy Akshaye refuses to pose with Bipasha

Unhappy Akshaye refuses to pose with Bipasha

Unhappy Akshaye refuses to pose with BipashaAkshaye Khanna has an image of the brooding, thinking actor. That he is a recluse is a known fact.

The actor keeps to himself on the sets and hardly mixes with co-stars or crew members. This pattern has not changed in the many years that Akshaye has been a part of the industry. But the Dil Chahta Hai star took this habit a bit too far lately.

Recently, Akshaye kept the unit of a shoot waiting as he had some issues with the producers.

The man was shooting with co-stars Ajay Devgn and Bipasha Basu for Priyadarshan's Aakrosh. The movie is about the forbidden inter caste marriages in Bihar and intense caste issues.

Akshaye was supposed to pose for a photo shoot with Ajay and Bipasha but flatly refused as was unhappy with the producers. Apparently some of his dues were yet to be cleared by the producers.

A source told us that a miffed Akshaye refused to relent until his payment issues were clear. The people present on the sets were shocked by this display of unprofessionalism.

Akshay has always been cordial, is not friendly, to his co-stars. He has worked with both Ajay and Bipasha in the past in Deewangee and Race respectively.

Such behavior was certainly not expected by an actor of Akshaye's status and caliber. Keeping your co-stars waiting because of your private hassles is so not done! Perhaps Akshaye should take a few tips on professional behavior? We're sure his co-stars will be grateful for it.

Shahid chooses IPL over Dad's film and loving it

Shahid chooses IPL over Dad's film and loving it

Shahid chooses IPL over Dad`s film and loving itShahid Kapoor is in acute pain. Some days back he sprained his neck severely. Rather than rest it out, as suggested by the doctors Shahid performed impromptu at the IPL finals in Mumbai on Sunday.

And the fact that he danced his way through the acute pain made his condition worse.

Interestingly he was a last-minute addition among the other performers namely A R Rahman and Bipasha Basu. Shahid wasn't really supposed to be performing at the IPL finals.

Says the actor, “My Dad and I were supposed to head to Europe for a short shooting stint of his film (Mausam). Then that volcano eruption happened in Iceland. So all flights got cancelled. In any case were only supposed to shoot for a few days and I was supposed to come back to Mumbai. So we decided to cancel the stint in Europe. ”

It was then that Shahid decided he would dance at the IPL after all. “I contacted the organizers the Moranis. And they let me perform. I had never performed in a stadium before. I loved the experience. I interacted with the live cricket crowd, went into the crowds sang with them. Great fun. ”

Usually Shahid prepares for at least a week for any of his live performances. “But for the IPL finals I was ready in a day. It was a great platform. Dancing to a live cricket crowd and that too a crowd cheering for the Mumbai team, was an experience I wouldn't have liked to miss. So yes, I guess the cancellation of our shooting in Europe isn't something I regret. ”

Shahid also doesn't regret dancing when he already had a sprained neck. It aggravated his condition manifold.

Trying to play down the pain Shahid says, “I guess there's a downside to being spontaneous. I was in a bad condition. "

Shahid was on painkiller injections. “But I don't mind my condition being worsened. I am just glad I performed in front of that live excited audience. People accuse me of not being spontaneous enough. So here I was actually doing something without much though or rehearsals. And I loved it!”

Katrina Kaif to seduce Hrithik Roshan

Katrina Kaif to seduce Hrithik Roshan

Katrina Kaif to seduce Hrithik RoshanThanks to Zoya Akhtar's next, Katrina Kaif and Hrithik Roshan will be sharing sizzling chemistry for the first time on silver screen. The buzz doing the round is that Zoya wants a steamy intimate scene between the lead pair and she has already told Kat about it before shooting.

The scene will shot in a bar where Katrina will be seen seducing the perfectionist hunk.

Zoya Akhtar's all-boy flick features Hrithik Roshan, brother Farhan Akhtar and Abhay Deol but will have only hotties Katrina Kaif and Kalki Koechlin.

Katrina's nod for the sensual scene comes as a complete contradiction to her earlier statement where she proclaimed that she would sign all her future films with no-exposure, no-kissing clause only.

Her ‘no kiss, no exposure pact’ forced director Tarun Mansukhani and producer Karan Johar to spice up John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan's chemistry in Dostana 2. It's learnt that they are confused about Kat's look for the sequel which shifts the story from Miami to London.

Designer Manish Malhotra along with Tarun and Karan are brainstorming to come up with an uber chic look for Katrina - something which isn't very revealing, yet is sensuous.

Clearly it was Hrithik's magic that made Kat change her mind. Way to go Duggu!

"We also came to hear that both Deepika and Lara spent a bomb shopping in London but in the bargain became great friends, " added the source.

However shooting in Italy was a torture to Akshay Kumar since he couldn't enjoy the gourmet food.

We come to hear Akshay Kumar called director Sajid Khan on the pretense of rehearsing dialogues and told him that he was coming to his hotel room and on reaching there Akshay ordered food through room service and also told Sajid to keep mum and not tell on him to his fitness trainer.

Reveals director Sajid “Akshay came to my room while we were on our Italy schedule and ordered a whole lot of food which was delivered to my room and told me not to tell Jennifer (his trainer)about it –on asking him why he was cheating on his diet he funnily replied “I'm only Human”

Big fight erupts on sets of Salman starrer Dabanng

Big fight erupts on sets of Salman starrer DabanngOn Sunday night, there was a major fight on the sets of the Salman Khan-Sonakshi Sinha starrer Dabanng in Wai.

Manoj Chaturvedi, the co-producer, punched Himanshu Mehra, the chief assistant director as Chaturvedi's son Shantanu, who is an assistant director for the film, complained that the unit was mistreating him.

Mehra has been admitted to a hospital after he was injured. He had to be given three stitches on his forehead and is recovering now.

Salman has fired Shantanu after the incident. Producer of the film, Arbaaz Khan, held a meeting with Manoj today in order to sort out matters.

According to sources, the unit was partying at Jannat, a nightclub in Wai, after pack-up on Sunday. Shantanu is known to be rather snobbish and is thus ignored by the crew as no one likes talking to him because of his attitude. He complained about it to his father and a drunken Manoj abused the unit.

When Himanshu saw that Manoj was creating chaos by shouting and abusing, he tried to make peace but Manoj then abused him and punched his face. Himanshu fell to the ground and his forehead began to bleed.

Makeup artists Bharat and Dorris Godambe's son Suraj rescued him and put him in a car. Manoj was about to hit them with a beer bottle but was stopped by some people.

Manisha Koirala to wed Nepali businessman? Bollywood actress and the daughter of one of the most powerful political houses in Nepal, Manisha Koirala, seems finally set to tie the knot - and in Nepal.

The 40-year-old actress, the country's most eligible single woman, will finally say "I do" to Nepali businessman Samrat Dahal with the wedding set for June 19.

"Mutual acquaintances told me about a week ago that Manisha Koirala was getting married in Nepal, " said Nepali film director Dipendra Khanal, whose upcoming release "Dharma" will mark the return of the actress to the Nepali film industry nearly two decades after she left Nepal to storm Bollywood.

Manisha, presently shooting in Kerala for a Telugu film, will return to Kathmandu Friday, Khanal told.

She was in Nepal last month to attend the last rites of her grand-uncle Girija Prasad Koirala. At a press conference afterwards, she said the patriarch of Nepal's politics and five-time prime minister had lamented to her that nobody loved him; people flocked to him only to get something out of him.

She was asked about her wedding plans but she parried the questions without divulging her new romance.

The would-be bridegroom was reportedly educated in the US and is a businessman. While not much is known about him, his father Surendra Dahal made his fortune in the leather industry.

The wedding will be a three-day extravaganza that is expected to see Mumbai's stars descend on Kathmandu.

Manisha, grand-daughter of Nepal's first elected prime minister B.P. Koirala, had a minor fling with politics in 2005 when she supported King Gyanendra's bid to seize power with an army-backed coup.

However, the move backfired and led to the abolition of monarchy in Nepal, once the world's only Hindu kingdom.

It is being speculated that Manisha could enter politics finally. Her aunt Sujata Koirala is the deputy prime minister of Nepal while two of her uncles are MPs.

Her father Prakash Koirala was a minister in King Gyanendra's cabinet but was expelled by his Nepali Congress party that led the pro-democracy movement against the king.

Manisha acted in just one film in Nepal, "Pheri Bhetaula" (We will meet again), that was, however, never released.

She got her big break from modelling in Nepal when she was cast by Bollywood director Subhash Ghai in "Saudagar" and then went on to act in such acclaimed films as Mani Ratnam's "Dil Se" and "Mumbai", Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Khamoshi" and Vidhu Vinod Chopra's "1942: A Love Story".
